Charles Moore offers an inexpensive educational package on investing in Rent-to-Own Real Estate. Other real estate gurus / trainers / coaches (whatever you want to call them) with similar material are charging far more.
Rent-to-Own investing could be a perfect niche for a real estate professional who knows how to structure the deal. If done right (and that’s important) it could be good for both buyer and seller. In a down market, with homes sitting on the market for weeks and perhaps months and sellers unable to unload their properties through a conventional sale, home sellers are far more open to rent-to-own and other creative real estate deals. At the very least, the seller benefits by having the tenant buyer cover the existing mortgage payments. For buyers, rent-to-own can provide the credit-challenged or cash-strapped a route to homeownership. This could create an auction-like atmosphere with buyers competing with eachother to have their option-to-purchase accepted.
For those who want to make money in real estate, rent-to-own is worth investigating. Just know that it takes work and dedication to the business to make it work. Many wannabe real estate investors end up spending more money in educational materials than they make in real estate. Don’t be one of them.
